Fired

I was "let go" on Friday, March 10, 2006. I have never been fired from a job before. It feels like I've walked up the stairs and missed a familiar step. My stomach sinks. Meanwhile, my pride and reputation are discredited and destroyed by friendly workers who alienated me. Like the odd kid in kickball, they never spoke to me except to say, "You're out."
