...I believe in the sand beneath my toes The beach gives a feeling An earthy feeling I believe in the faith that grows... Matthew 16:25 If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life.

Oh, brother where art thou?

Every family has its problems and qualms, some a great more than others. But, I must say something happened within mine tonight. My brother and I aren't the best of friends, okay were not friends at all. Our longest conversation has usually been 3 minutes, and by conversation I mean argument. To this extent, I would say our family is normal, but we managed to have a brief talk tonight without arguing. Granted it was over the internet, I still think this was one step away from childhood fights and one step toward an actual brotherly relationship I've never had. Some of my friends have told me stories of their great siblings, and to that I say, "mine just might get there."

Alphanumerics

I've recently discovered doing math problems is like eating chicken sandwiches with ketchup (or is it catsup?). I enjoy both thoroughly, however I get a strange look from others when I say either of the two. I can't control my taste buds or my aptitudes, so it would seem I should pursue this math path. But, what on Earth am I doing majoring in mathematics when my nights are spent scribbling my random thoughts. Both are just as entertaining but too opposite on the spectrum for anyone wishing to double major and graduate in four years. The two fields are entirely different. Numbers are exact and face-valued, while the words of English are deceptive and cunning, like the homophones I could never get straight in third grade. So, I'm caught somewhere in a preprosition and the distance between two points. No matter what happens though, chicken sandwiches will never deceive me! Now if I could just find some kethcup...

Orange Rhyming Dictionary

Take any three random words, slam them together and you got a game of word slots. Its harder then it seems as the word "random" is deceptive. If you think about whats random, then you've been thinking too long and your bound to spout out office supplies, shapes, an item around you, or an animal. Not so random is it. The randomness truly comes from 2 kinds of people in my opinion: 1. really random people who are usually your good friends and 2. musicians. Only the artistry of a musician is able to produce three word album titles like No Name Face, Sleeping with Ghosts, and, my all time favorite, Orange Rhyming Dictionary. The fun is endless with this game as long random is with you. As for winning the game, you win if you or others genuinely laugh at your 3 word combo. "Sleeping with Ghosts" always gives me a chuckle.

The Pen vs. Me

Alright, I'll admit that I'm a little OCD about using a G-2 Pilot Ballpoint pen. Ok, I'm very obsessed with the pen and its ability to keep me occupied at its smooth writing. Do I control the pen or does it control me? Well, today I found out for sure it must control me. I got up from my desk pen in hand and closed my dorm door. Returning to my desk, the pen was gone! "Ok, it can't be that hard to find a pen that was just in my hand," I told myself. I went on some sort of manhunt for it, searching through my bed, my desk, and even my friend's dorm room (it's at least 6 rooms down from mine). It didn't turn up anything except my frustration. Alright, so two hours later going to eat I reach for my wallet to swipe my Emory card to eat. BAM! The pen is in my back pocket. And so comes that great feeling of stupidity head on like a train leaving you only with a grim smile, while muttering "stupid, stupid" to yourself.
